It seems I’m really not good with this time-management thing – unfortunately.
I had all the right reasons and best intentions but alas those weren’t enough to make me stick to my “resolution/wish” to post at least one project a month. The only way I can make up for it is to post all the finished projects at once!
So…there was a birthday project, a couple of Valentine’s and a couple of baby projects for me from January till now.
The best friend of my little daughter (and when I say best friend I mean they are joined by the hip!) celebrated her 13th birthday. I made her a word-art card using my Cameo and a cupcake box from Svgcuts’ Happy Birthday kit. I used First Edition’s Bella Rose Premium Paper Pad cos they have the sturdiest patterned paper. The top layer was pop-dotted on the card base (on three sides of the base the word-art shaped the card.)
Christmas crafting for me is always… for lack of better word, personal. Everything I make, I make it with somebody in mind. It’s not the case this time around.
I was browsing Pinterest for new ideas and tho card making is not my forte I was mesmerized by designs, colours and versatility. I’ve found greeting cards from oh-so-simple-yet-beautiful, to magnificently layered and complicated, and everything in between.
My time on these boards (christmas cards) inspired me to try and recreate some of these cards myself. If nothing else my friends and family will receive handmade cards for this Christmas.
I think I started out trying to incorporate too much into my card design like embossing folders, inks, modeling pastes and stencils, die-cuts, ribbons etc.
Then I made a complete 180 and made absolute simplistic cards with only one or two “techniques”.
My favorite time of the year…and I’m sure I’m not alone with this feeling.
I have so many ideas, goals for this holiday season that I feel I’m already behind. Gifts, cards, tags, decoration for the wreath, garland, the swag for the front door and of course the Christmas tree!
I started with a few cards from svgcuts-files that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. These are not your standard A2 sized cards and there are many layers to them so I made individual envelop-boxes for them to fit in (with my new envelop punch-board)!
The time has come and tomorrow (Jun.14) is the last day of school here in Greece.
My little girl has English lessons after school and she came home with an “Excellent” on her last big test (proud mama moment here 😀 ).
So at the end of the year – tho here in Greece it isn’t really a common thing – I made some little gifts for her to give to her English teachers. The idea came from Pinterest and was easy to whip up, baking and all and it came out nice (for a first attempt!).
She calls herself “a smart cookie” now!
The cookies yummy, the card sweet and to the point; I hope girlie’s teachers will like it!
Thanks for coming by.
