Sibling love

Sibling love is a tricky thing. Mystical to those who are an only child; raging with jealousy/rivalry or kind and comforting and everything in between for the siblings themselves; a “playfield” for psychologists.

Sibling love is incomprehensible because it’s different for every “pair” of sibling but it’s also an unquestionable fact because we FEEL it throughout our lives. Through time, it changes and evolves like we as individuals do. (Thank heavens cos otherwise my brother would be still pulling my hair and I’d be still jealous of him! )

I’m two years older than my brother. We are very different personalities and the way our life turned out, we live in different countries; he’s work-oriented, single, living life to its fullest, I’m a stay-at-home mom; see each other maybe twice a year (tho talk and text each other frequently), we’re not really IN each other’s daily lives, but I’d drop everything if he needed me and he did drop everything when I needed him. I feel closer to him than ever.

I could only speak about my feelings regarding how we matured into loving and accepting each other, but this post is more about celebrating this kind of love rather than dissecting and analyzing it. Of course, the process wasn’t easy but that just made our connection all the more precious to me.

And so, my brother’s birthday is coming up and it’s a big one. I wanted to commemorate it with a layout cos I was always mesmerized by the artistry of them telling the story with only a photo, patterned paper, and embellishments. Through the creative process, I remembered funny stories, proud moments, moving touches. I reflected… I was thankful… I was happy.

It’s my first ever layout (and I know it’s lacking) but I hope it communicates my love for him through time.

Half of a pair of running shoes for a Half Marathon

A couple of months back (April, 2013) my brother decided to run the Half Marathon in Budapest, Hungary which took place on the Margaret Island . He is not a professional athlete tho he’s “in” in so many activities I can’t keep track of them. He was training for approx (?) a year and for just the experience and testing himself he did it!

2 hours 17 minutes and 40 seconds it took for him from start to finish! I’m very proud of him -I can’t run to save my life-  so I decided for his nameday present I’d make him a running shoe. Just one for the half of the marathon…when he decides to run the other half of it too I’ll make him the other half of the pair! [ I’m cheeky 😀 ]

So, here it is… a simple black-two shades of gray-blue and white “Nike” running shoe all laced up and ready for the running track!

I manipulated the SVGCuts Summer Holidays Boat-shoe cut-file (not enough tho for a real running shoe appearance eg. I forgot to take out the circles from the trim on the heel) and just added the Nike emblem in black. I spelled in Hungarian half marathon and put the letters on the backside making this running shoe a memorabilia of that achievement.

Go Bro! 😀

Thank you for your company! See you in the next project!
